What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) uses a pressurized chamber to deliver 100% oxygen at pressures higher than atmospheric. This dramatically increases oxygen saturation in the blood, allowing oxygen to reach tissues that are oxygen-starved or poorly vascularized.

The mechanism is simple but powerful: under pressure, oxygen dissolves directly into the plasma—not just the red blood cells. This means tissues can receive oxygen even if blood vessel circulation is compromised.
